Frequent Asked Questions
Is Jorvuld's needed with SPC to maintin uptime?
Short answer: - Jorvuld's is not needed to maintain the uptime of Major Courage and consequently another set will help you group more than Jorvuld's.
Long answer: - SPC applies major courage for 5 second when you over heal. Jorvuld's increase this to 6 seconds. SPC major courage has no cool down meaning each healing tick of any over heal reapplies the buff. So if a player is standing in your illustrious healing AOE that lasts of 12 second each healing tick reapplies the buff and the total duration of major courage applied by that heal to a player standing inside the AOE is 17 seconds or 18 seconds with Jorvuld's. We stack heals on our group members meaning each healing effect that over heals applies this buff. So basically the extra second the jorvuld's adds to the buff is not needed to maintain major courage uptime and consequently pairing Jorvuld's with SPC will not increase major courage uptime, therefore there are better set combinations.
Why do I hate Jovuld's?
I don't, its a useful set on the right healer, when used for the right reason. Jorvuld's should be used to increase buff uptime that is hard or impossible to keep higher uptime on without it. Then if it is needed should go on the healer that is offering the most buffs to the group which is generally going to be the Warden.
SPC and Olorime are good together?
No, SPC and Olorime offer the same buff major courage in different ways, there is no benefit to the group unless the healers are separated such as the second boss fight in Hell Ra where having both healers running this set for that 1 boss would be useful. I would not run 2 sets together even in Hell Ra for the whole trial, just that one fight when you are separated and then only if needed otherwise its a lot of messing around unless on PC.
Which is better SPC or Olorime?
SPC is generally easier to maintain the buff since patch 28, as all heals that over heal now apply the buff. Olorime though is still a solid option in fights were the group is stacked and healing checks are occurring, were Olorime will still apply the buff but there may be a small down time on SPC. Olorime is also easy to control on the back bar were you want SPC on the body to ensure uptime, this also influences which set may work better depending on the other set you are wearing Olorime maybe the better option if other set you are wearing uptime will be impacted if not constant for example Worm's Raiment.
Why do you back bar sets?
Some of the weapon altering restoration staffs offer great benefits to you and your group so back baring a set allows you the flexibility of offering these extra benefits without loosing anything if you choose the right set. Back bar sets are general those that proc and apply an effect for an extended period of time that stays in effect after you change bars, Olorime, Z'en's Roaring Opportunist, and Winter respite are good example of this. Back baring also allows you to control activation of a set when procing allowing you to choose were you want to apply the effect.
Should I still wear the gear if it's the unperfected?
Yes is the simple answer. Perfected gear never improves the benefit to the group, is only impact your personal stats by adding an extra line of magicka, critical or spell power etc. This extra line is nice and adds about 1% generally to your healing but overall its a really small difference so don't stress about the perfected gear but use it once you have it.
Why is Kagrenac's Hope not on your recommended crafting healing sets?
Kagrenac's is not a healing set, it decrease the time is takes tp resuract a player by 25% and healers shouldn't resuract players unless all dps are dead (rule 3). If healer is not resuracting players then the set is wasted on a healer. Some progression groups will run this set on a magplar but it is rarely used in experienced groups.
I'm a healer why are people asking me to DPS?
Parsing on a healer is pretty useless, as we don't have a set rotation we react to situations but the principles around weaving and animation cancelling still apply to healers. The best way to practice this is on a DPS parsing on a training dummy and doing it in content.
